Category problems with Ecto: Bug in WP 1.5.1? *update*

Thursday, June 30th, 2005

No matter which category I set within ecto, the entry is always also posted under category #1. A solution can be found at the ecto forum and requires editing WP’s xmlrpc.php. Now let’s see if this works..

*update*
.. it does.

Paid..

Saturday, May 14th, 2005

This is my 1st post using my freshly registered copy of ecto. Well, this morning ecto reminded me that the trial time passed. I took a quick look around if there’s an alternative that would fit my needs, none found.. and here we go. Actually, this is the 1st application I bought for a long time. Using GNU/Linux and having access to all the GPL’d software-candy, there’s not necessarily a need for commercial software.

Thinking about it, the last year there has been Half-Life 2 and Cedega and of course, Tiger two weeks ago (which was heavily apple-sponsored anyway).

Trivia: Lot’s of backlinks to my own blog. That’s poor, isn’t it?

Dashboard blogging

with DashBlog. Unfortunately no support for categories or other fancy stuff, but otherwise it seems to work fine.. and now let’s edit the cat in the browser.. drrrr.

ecto - easier blogging?

Sunday, April 10th, 2005

While searching for tools to add all those bells and whistles I have in KDE to OS X, I stumbled over ecto, a client for easy blogging. This is my 1st entry using it and it’s pretty comfortable to use. I’ll test the shareware for the 15 day evaluation period and then decide if buying ecto for 15€ or going back to WP’s web interface..

Gallery added

Monday, March 28th, 2005

I wanted to do this since the beginning but just didn’t find a appealing solution. Yesterday, Patrick pointed me to Konqueror’s Create Image Gallery feature. Basically this will create thumbs and a html-file for the current directory. Dead-simple. Kudos to KDE! This should allow me to upload images, index them on ftp and have a nice and easy to use gallery running. At least I thought so. When trying to use the feature, Konqi refused:

Creating an image gallery works only on local folders

Guess I have to use a local mirror, then.. anyhow, it’s up and running.

BTW, there’s already a wishlist-item posted on bugs.kde.org for this. Want to vote?
