ecto – easier blogging?

Sunday, April 10th, 2005

While searching for tools to add all those bells and whistles I have in KDE to OS X, I stumbled over ecto, a client for easy blogging. This is my 1st entry using it and it’s pretty comfortable to use. I’ll test the shareware for the 15 day evaluation period and then decide if buying ecto for 15€ or going back to WP’s web interface..

Gallery added

Monday, March 28th, 2005

I wanted to do this since the beginning but just didn’t find a appealing solution. Yesterday, Patrick pointed me to Konqueror’s Create Image Gallery feature. Basically this will create thumbs and a html-file for the current directory. Dead-simple. Kudos to KDE! This should allow me to upload images, index them on ftp and have a nice and easy to use gallery running. At least I thought so. When trying to use the feature, Konqi refused:

Creating an image gallery works only on local folders

Guess I have to use a local mirror, then.. anyhow, it’s up and running.

BTW, there’s already a wishlist-item posted on bugs.kde.org for this. Want to vote?

WordPress 1.5 Review

Thursday, March 17th, 2005

NewsForge published a review on WordPress 1.5.

WP-Scrobbler v1.2. W3C likes it, too.

Tuesday, March 15th, 2005

Ted Pearson released WP-Scrobbler v1.2, a WordPress plugin which retrieves your audioscrobbler data (see ‘Music’ in the sidebar). I didn’t use the last version for it screwed up XHTML validity for my site, anyhow, this version works like a charm ;) .

WP’s default theme pt. II: IE6 *update*

Monday, March 7th, 2005

This morning I had access to a box running Wintendo and therefore could check my site with the infamous Internet Explorer v6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.040919-1003 (bet you thought some open source projects use funny versioning). The right-shift of the footer is now a left-shift (seems like the default theme has been biased to IE) and I have quite some free space between the header and content. Guess I’ll just look for some anti-IE-logo and forget about it. I’m somewhat curious what Opera will make of it. Did I mention hat Firefox and Konqueror are working just fine?

update:
Opera displays everything fine. I’ve also tested IE on a Mac, same problems. Safari also works fine. It uses KHTML, so no big surprise here.
